Practice makes perfect is a saying that means that the more you practice a skill, the better you will become at it. This is undoubtedly true in golf, where even the best players in the world admit they practice at least one aspect of their game daily.

However, it is important to note that not all practice is created equal. You must draw the line between practice and serious mode to improve your golf game. If you set out to play 18, this means no mulligans or gimme putts. If you set out to practice, focus on specific areas of your swing or game that you want to improve. But don’t change up goals mid-round. For example, you are playing and struggling with your driver. Fight the urge to tee it up again after an errant shot. Leave it in the bag and figure out a plan B. This dedication will round your game and better prepare you for future scenarios on the course. The same goes for when you set out to practice. Don’t bother hitting your favorite shots or keeping score; that defeats the purpose. Hit the ones you dread. Repetitions are the key to confidence in anything.
